Gary Wilson has endured a season to forget - and he blames no one but himself. Following an excellent 2023/24 campaign, which saw him win the Scottish and Welsh Opens, this campaign has been a letdown for the Tyneside Terrier, who faces having to qualify for the World Championship after dropping out of the top 16.
Wilson’s cause hasn’t been helped by his long-term battle with the 'yips', which has seen consult seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry for advice. But the straight-talking Geordie, 39, is refusing to make any excuses. It’s an issue he accepts he must remedy if he is to fulfil his potential. “I've accepted it for what it is. I’ve had a bad season, and it’s my own fault,” said Wilson in an interview for Reach's special World Championship publication, which is available to order now.
