AC Milan kept their slim chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League alive as they thrashed Udinese on Friday evening. Sergio Conceicao's side went into the game positioned in ninth in Serie A and nine points behind fourth-placed Bologna.

They desperately needed a victory at Stadio Friuli and they got what they wanted as they ran out 4-0 winners. Goals from Rafael Leao, Strahinja Pavlović, Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders gave AC Milan all three points and boosted their chances of returning to Europe's premier cup competition.

While it was arguably AC Milan's best win of the season, their victory was overshadowed somewhat by a sickening injury sustained by their star goalkeeper, Mike Maignan.

AC Milan captain Maignan was involved in a horror collision with his teammate, Alex Jimenez, 10 minutes into the second half. The French goalkeeper came storming out of his goal only to collide with Jimenez at full force.

While both laid on the turf after the collision, there was serious concern for Maignan, who was knocked unconscious. Tammy Abraham, who was on the substitutes' bench at the time, was seen praying for his teammate. The Frenchman eventually had to be stretchered off and was later taken to hospital for tests.
