Annoyed Arsenal fans make a clear Kieran Tierney point after Celtic hero’s display vs Brentford
Apr 13, 2025
Soon-to-be Celtic player Kieran Tierney was handed a rare Premier League start for Arsenal on Saturday evening.
Days after Arsenal’s stunning win over Real Madrid in the Champions League, Mikel Arteta rang the changes ahead of the second leg on Wednesday night at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Tierney, who will return to Celtic this summer on a free transfer, was one of the players to come into the XI and start in his usual left-back role against Thomas Frank’s Brentford.
In recent months, the Celtic Park faithful and the Arsenal fans would have seen their popular fullback used as a left-sided winger, at times, by his manager.
When Tierney left the field, just after the hour mark, Arsenal were leading 1-0 through a Thomas Partey goal – the Scotland international had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half.
Rising youngster Myles Lewis Skelly was brought on in his place, but the Scotsman’s performance, as well as the call to take him off, drew quite the response from the Arsenal fans.

Tierney has been fit and available for months and months, yet this was his first start of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign and third start overall.
Bearing that in mind, the Arsenal fans were annoyed with Arteta subbing Tierney off because they didn’t think it was necessary.
