The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up to Cancer has made a welcome return to TV screens, with this year's line-up featuring the likes of Self Esteem, Scarlette Douglas, Kate Garraway and Gloria Hunniford.

Also among the cast is actor Jim Howick, who many will recognise from TV shows such as Peep Show, Here We go and Sex Education.

The 45-year-old will make his Bake Off debut on Sunday (13 April), and it seems he might have an advantage over his competitors. Jim specialises in making all things savoury, most notably pasties and pies, so his culinary knowledge may help him on the Channel 4 show.

"I have a new-found respect for bakers because it is an exact science," he said. "It's a chemistry lesson ,and a craft rolled into one. I'm an average baker, but I've got a long way to go before I can safely say I can bake well."

Jim was born in Chichester, West Sussex, but grew up in Bognor Regis. He attended The Regis School before graduating from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts with First Class Honours in 2000.
