The price of a Forever Stamp, as well as costs for other mail products, are set to go up later this year. You still have some time to stock up before the price hike, however.

The U.S. Postal Service has requested to raise the cost of a Forever Stamp, which can be used in perpetuity no matter any future increases, from 73 cents to 78 cents. The increase must still be approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission which has traditionally signed off on price hikes.

If approved, 5-cent increase will take place July 13 so if you need to stock up and want to save a little money, make your stamp buys on July 12.

USPS said the price increase is needed to “achieve the financial stability” to meet the goals of its existing Delivering for American 10-year plan.

Stamps aren’t the only USPS with a planned price hike. Other increases are:

Letters (metered 1 ounce) – From 69 cents to 74 cents

Domestic postcards – 56 cents to 62 cents

International postcards- $1.65 to $1.70

International letter (1 ounce) - $1.65 to $1.70

The additional ounce price for letters will increase from 28 cents to 29 cents.

The 2025 price increase is the first since July 24, 2024 when the cost of a Forever Stamp rose from 68 cents to 73 cents. Prior to that, stamps rose 2 cents, from 66 cents to 68 cents, in January 2024 and 63 cents to 66 cents in 2023.
