Betrayed and Abandoned? Mt Kenya Leaders Burn as Ruto’s Shadow Sparks Public Fury– Alfred Keter Breaks the Silence
Apr 14, 2025
Alfred Keter, a well- known political firebrand, has stirred the hornet' s nest again— this time with a searing claim that President William Ruto is the reason Mt Kenya leaders allied to him are fast losing support on the ground. According to Keter, the leaders from the vote- rich region are paying a heavy political price for hitching their wagons to Ruto' s presidency without gauging the shifting mood of their people.
Speaking boldly, Keter accused these leaders of ignoring warning signs, claiming they failed to anticipate the frustration and disillusionment now boiling over in the region. He stated that by blindly supporting Ruto, they' ve made themselves vulnerable, unpopular, and are now facing relentless criticism from their own constituents.
Social media lit up with reactions soon after Keter' s remarks went public. Kenyans from different corners chimed in, some echoing Keter' s sentiments. One user, Muhia Kinyanjui, referenced the recent public booing of Majority Leader Kimani Ichung' wah— one of Ruto' s staunchest defenders— as undeniable evidence that the tide has turned. " When crowds heckle Ruto' s loyalists, they are indirectly rejecting Ruto himself, " he commented.
In the midst of the heated exchanges, the debate took an unexpected turn with humor and satire. Several commenters playfully encouraged Keter to " come and vie for Governor in Nandi, " while others pivoted the conversation toward the 2027 elections. One user called for a coalition against Ruto, even throwing support behind former Chief Justice David Maraga as a potential alternative.
