Images of A47 Blofield to North Burlingham development
Apr 14, 2025
The images taken by photographer and pilot Mike Page from 6,000 feet capture the ongoing work to replace the existing single-lane section of the road between Blofield and North Burlingham with a new two-lane dual carriageway.
Once completed, the new dual carriageway is hoped to ease congestion and support economic growth in the area.
The work is hoped to be finished by 2026-27 and will cost between £90m and £100m.
National Highways is also making safety improvements to the Yarmouth Road junction, closing the right turn and adding a dedicated lane to join the A47.
In addition, the major infrastructure project will add a new bridge over the new dual carriageway, which will connect the villages of Blofield and North Burlingham, and take traffic from Blofield towards Great Yarmouth.
Between April and July, National Highways warn of a likely small traffic increase on the stretch of road as more lorries will be on the network as they move materials between sites.
The material is being transferred from the A47 North Tuddenham site to the A47 Blofield site and will be used as part of the new bridge structures at Blofield to reduce waste that would otherwise go to landfill.
