Jamie Carragher’s thoughts on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football since Gary Neville decision
Apr 14, 2025
Jamie Carragher has shared his true feelings about Monday Night Football now that long-time Sky Sports co-pundit Gary Neville has taken a step back from the show
Jamie Carragher says he still "loves" his role on Monday Night Football (MNF) despite Gary Neville's decision to step back from the popular show.
Carragher joined the Sky Sports programme as a pundit back in August 2013, making his debut during a match between Manchester City and Newcastle.
Over the years, the former Liverpool centre-back developed an excellent rapport with his former adversary, ex-Manchester United captain Neville. Ed Chamberlin initially hosted the show, while David Jones has taken over as presenter in recent times.
Neville joined the MNF team two years before Carragher, stepping in as a replacement pundit for Andy Gray. The duo of Neville and Carragher quickly gained popularity for their analysis and shared various high-profile on-air moments, ranging from heated debates to light-hearted banter.
However, since the start of the current 2024/25 Premier League season, Neville has not featured on the show, instead concentrating on his commentary duties and appearances on Sky Sports' Super Sunday.
The former England right-back also has other commitments with Sky, such as his interviews for The Overlap and the Stick to Football podcast, along with various business ventures like Hotel Football and his ownership of League Two club Salford City.
