Supermarket butter is named tastier and 60% cheaper than popular Lurpak

The renowned Danish brand is no longer the spread of choice for Brits as a few supermarket-owned items are considered better, and more affordable, options
Lurpak has been dethroned as the spreadable butter of choice for many Brits as a supermarket branded version has been named the most popular – and it's only 60% cheaper.
A recent study by Which? found that three supermarket-branded versions outperformed Lurpak in both taste and price. In a blind taste test, the consumer watchdog asked 67 individuals to rate eight supermarket spreadables from Aldi, Asda, Lidl, Morrisons, M&S, Ocado, Tesco and Waitrose, as well as the renowned Danish brand.
Aldi's Nordpak came out on top, receiving praise for its creaminess, colour and balanced flavour. Priced at £2.18 for 500g, it was also one of the most affordable options.
Lurpak fell to fourth place, impressing the panel with its appearance, flavour and texture. However, it was the most expensive spread tested, costing nearly £5 for 400g – more than 60% pricier than Aldi's offering, reports the Express.
M&S Lightly Salted Butter Blend took second place, also earning a "best buy" label. Despite scoring highly for flavour and texture, and containing the highest proportion of butter among the spreads tested, it was almost twice the price per 100g compared to Aldi's product.
