As part of the Red Devils' players contracts, Onana and his team-mates saw their salary reduced by 25 per cent this year, a realisation that stunned the goalkeeper, The Athletic reports, resulting in a conversation with then-sporting director Dan Ashworth. The ex-Ajax and Inter star even opened talks with Saudi Pro League clubs last summer, but ended up buying a house in Manchester to reiterate his commitment to the club.
