Columnist trolls NBA superstar Kevin Durant with a new nickname
Apr 15, 2025
Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant, 36, is one of the most talented players in NBA history.
A unicorn who has perfected his craft, Durant scores effortlessly and efficiently, can facilitate offense and defend vigorously when the stakes are high. But one thing the two-time NBA Finals MVP has not done, minus Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, is win something meaningful.
That, unfortunately, has led to multiple coaches being fired, which New York Post columnist Mike Vaccaro shared by way of X on Monday.
“I never thought anyone would encroach Jason Kidd’s record as a coach killer but you’ve got to hand it to Kevin Durant: he’s blown past him, notching five — FIVE — pelts in the last six years: Atkinson, Nash, Monty Williams, Vogel and Budd. Hail to the new king," Vaccaro wrote sarcastically.
Since leaving the Warriors in 2019, Durant has experienced a mix of individual success and team struggles. While he continues to be a dominant scorer, he hasn’t replicated the championships he enjoyed in Golden State.
His playoff record since leaving is 13-18, and Durant’s coaches, literally, have paid for that.
