D.C. has an exciting number of vibrant Spanish restaurants, and perhaps that isn’t surprising — arguably America’s most famous authority on the cuisine, José Andrés, is based here. Whether looking for classic gambas al ajillo, a daring blend of Japanese and Spanish cuisine, a neighborhood destination with standout Spanish seafood, or exciting new additions to the Spanish landscape, it’s all available around Washington.

Sadly, D.C. lost a few Spanish stalwarts in the past year, including Joselito Casa de Comidas on Capitol Hill and Spanish Diner in Bethesda. For this map refresh, we added El Taller del Xiquet in Glover Park, the Bazaar downtown, Arrels near Chinatown, and Sabores Tapas in Arlington.
