1587 Prime is slated to open in Kansas City later this year

The highly-anticipated culinary debut from NFL superstars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes is just around the corner!

1587 Prime, the Kansas City-based steakhouse that the pair is opening in partnership with Noble 33, will open in Summer 2025 ahead of the NFL season, PEOPLE has learned.

The new restaurant will sit inside the sleek Loews Kansas City Hotel and will feature “multi-sensory dining aspects” as well as “subtle nods” to the players themselves — after all, the name “1587” is a combination of their jersey numbers.

Buzz about the new restaurant originally began in March 2024 and was slated with an opening date of “early 2025," though there have not been updates on an official date since then.

Kelce, 35, confirmed to PEOPLE exclusively in April 2024 that he and Mahomes, 29, were aiming for a 2025 “grand opening” and called the venture an “unbelievable opportunity.”

"[It’s] just another thing that we want to bring to Kansas City, to be able to show our appreciation for the city, knowing how much they love their food and how much they love their football,” Kelce said.
