While chatting exclusively with PEOPLE on the red carpet for the official Emmy FYC and finale screening of Abbott Elementary, the actress and comedian, 61, reveals that her children were not the biggest fans of her role in the 1998 Disney Channel original movie.

Walter also says that her sons, in particular, may have found it "annoying" because of their unique shared experience while dating.

"All of my boys have said that girls have dated them specifically because Chessy is their mom," she tells PEOPLE. "So, it might be annoying."

The star was married to her first husband, Sam Baum, from 1986 to 1999. The couple welcomed her eldest children during their marriage: daughter Delia, 32, and son Jordan, 36. Later, Walter gave birth to her youngest children, twin sons Spencer and Simon, 24, with her second husband, whose name is unknown.

In a March 2023 episode of the actress joked, “I made babies almost immediately when I went to New York to be an actor. Instead, I got knocked up, and that’s when I started doing stand-up.”
