'Too far': Lachlan Galvin's Tigers teammates criticised for social media pile-on
Apr 16, 2025
A handful of Wests Tigers players have been slammed for having "a crack" at Lachlan Galvin on social media in the wake of his contract decision.
On Monday, it was confirmed the young playmaker will depart the Concord-based club at the end of the 2026 campaign.
Galvin and his agent knocked back the Tigers' multi-million dollar extension offer and will now test the open market from November 1.
The 19-year-old was then omitted from the team for their upcoming Easter Monday clash with the Eels.
According to News Corp, Galvin's axing came after a conversation between the Tigers' playing leadership group and coach Benji Marshall.
The leadership group – which included Jarome Luai and Api Koroisau – "fronted" Marshall to explain why they didn't want the teen talent in the team for the Eels clash.
Some players then went on to signal their disapproval of the five-eighth's contract decision on social media.
Luai posted an Instagram story with an image captioned "Team First".
Sunia Turuva then published a story to his Instagram 'close friends', which displayed a picture of Galvin's locker with the song 'Here Comes The Money' playing.
Fonua Pole also liked multiple posts from fan accounts that criticised Galvin.
Rugby league legend Greg Alexander has slammed the behaviour of the aforementioned Tigers players, claiming it is almost bullying.
