Congressional divorce drama: It’s Max Miller versus Bernie Moreno in messy family battle
Apr 17, 2025
A high-profile divorce case between two politically connected families raises questions about unusual legal between U.S. Representative Max Miller and the family of Senator Bernie Moreno.
“We’re talking about Max Miller, the U.S. representative for the west side suburbs of Cleveland. He subpoenaed his in-laws as part of his divorce case against their daughter,” explained Courtney Astolfi during the podcast.
The subpoena requires Bernie Moreno and his wife to turn over extensive documentation by May 9th regarding financial support they’ve provided to their daughter over the past five years. This includes proof of payment for a Westlake home that property records show was purchased by a company owned by Bernie Moreno—a purchase that Miller claims in court filings was done “secretly” by his wife before he filed for divorce last summer.
The panel questioned the strategic logic behind Miller’s focus on his in-laws’ financial support of their daughter during the divorce proceedings.
“It’s an odd move because if Bernie Moreno is having to provide support to his daughter because she doesn’t have enough money to take care of business, I would think that makes it look worse for Max Miller because there’s not an even division of assets,” Quinn observed. “Why he’s so focused on what her family is doing to support her during this difficult time is a big question mark.”
