For a summer sneaker, the Adidas Samba Mesh is a pretty dark beast
Apr 17, 2025
The new Adidas Samba Mesh wants to do things differently.
Typically, when the temperatures begin to rise and that big, fiery ball of gas in the sky gets a little bit spicy, we tuck away our all-black shoes in favour of something bolder and brighter – you know, like the Air Jordan 1 High OG ‘UNC Reimagined’. But this Samba is questioning old ways, because while it has been designed for summer, it's still real moody.
The Samba was first introduced in the '40s, and in the eight decades that it's been around, its materials haven't really changed much (if at all). Most pairs are decked out in suede, but for this version, the upper is now completely covered in ‘Core Black’ mesh. Leather lands on the T-shaped toebox and heel badge, and the laces and side stripes are all coated with a reflective finish so you can flex your sneaks even when it's dark out.
Down below, Adidas has ditched the tried-and-tested gum sole for a blacked-out unit, and the Samba Mesh is rounded off with the classic Trefoil logo that's printed on the tongue.
Sure, this silhouette might not be as hyped-up as it once was, say, two years ago, but that hasn't stopped the German sportswear company from dropping some genuinely sick spin-offs. Just look at the Samba 62, the Samba LT, and now, the Samba Mesh. They're clean, they're wearable, and compared to a lot of other trainers out there, they're pretty affordable, too.
