In 2021, TLC viewers were introduced to Michael Blair on . But how is he doing now?

Blair, 43, of Conroe, Texas, was dependent on the help of his wife in Season 9, Episode 9 of My 600-Lb Life. Although viewers hoped to see him change his eating habits and lifestyle choices, his journey was not an easy one.

Blair sought help from bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan (known as Dr. Now) in Houston, Texas, but did he change his ways and qualify for weight-loss surgery?

"Every day, I wake up and struggle to start my day," Blair said at the beginning of his My 600-Lb Life episode. "Because of my size, just basic things are so hard for me now. But thankfully, I'm still able to at least get out of bed. I just can't go far. Usually, I can only make it to the couch or the bathroom to freshen up for the day."

During his first weigh-in with Dr. Now, Blair tipped the scale at 609 pounds.

The bariatric surgeon performed an endoscopy on Blair—revealing a hernia that could be fixed after he lost 150 pounds—to see whether he could ultimately perform a gastric sleeve procedure. Dr. Now then gave him a goal of losing 100 in three months.

At his follow-up, Blair weighed 548 pounds, missing his goal by a decent margin. Dr. Now set a goal losing 90 more pounds; Blair weighed 512 pounds when he returned.
