Netflix Raises Subscription Prices in France
Netflix subscribers in France were hit with a surprise announcement on Thursday, April 17, 2025, as the streaming giant revealed a price increase for all subscription tiers, with costs rising by up to two euros per month.
Price Hikes Across All Plans
Netflix users will now need to pay more to enjoy their favorite movies and series. The price adjustments span across all plans. Here’s a breakdown of the new pricing:
Standard Plan with ads: from 5.99 euros to 7.99 euros per month, a 33% increase.
Standard Plan without ads: from 13.49 euros to 14.99 euros per month, an 11% increase.
Premium Plan: from 19.99 euros to 21.99 euros per month, a 10% increase.
Even adding additional subscribers to an existing account will see a price rise. For instance, in the Standard plan, adding a subscriber will now cost 5.99 euros per month with ads and 6.99 euros per month without ads, up by one euro.
Justifying the Increase with Quality Enhancements
Despite significant revenue growth, with a turnover of 10.54 billion dollars in Q1 2025 and a 24% increase in net profit, Netflix defends the price hike as a means to enhance service quality. “As we bring more value to our subscribers, we are adjusting our offerings and prices to better monetize and foster investment in future service improvements,” stated the company in a press release.
