Pixel 9a Vs Pixel 9 Pro: Which Google Phone Should You Buy?
Apr 20, 2025
This might not be a fair comparison given the price difference between the Google Pixel 9a and Pixel 9 Pro. However, this is what you might be looking for if you’re in the market for a new phone, because the Google Pixel 9a vs Pixel 9 don’t have significant differences for the average consumer.
The Google Pixel 9a is the budget-friendly gateway into Google's ecosystem, while the Pixel 9 Pro is a flagship built for demanding users. From design and displays to cameras and charging speeds, here's how these two Pixel phones stack up and which one deserves a spot in your pocket.
Pixel 9a Vs Pixel 9 Pro: Design And Display
The Pixel 9a misses out on Google’s signature camera bar. Instead, it paves the way for a virtually flush camera module that houses its two lenses. Both phones come with different matte finishes on the back. The $499 Pixel 9a is a refreshing take on modern smartphones, thanks to its clean rear design and lack of a bulging camera module – similar to Apple’s iPhone 16e.
For the first time, Google has made two Pro slab phones: the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL. The former is similar in size to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9a, whereas the Pro XL is Google’s biggest Pixel phone, featuring a larger display and battery capacity. The Pixel 9 Pro is slightly bulkier and heavier (199g vs 186g for the Pixel 9a), but both offer IP68 water and dust resistance.
