Apr 24, 2025
Troops of Operation Lafiyan Jama' a have successfully repelled an armed militia attack on the Teegbe community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The troops neutralised one suspect and apprehended two others during a hot pursuit that extended into neighboring Kaduna State.
According to reliable intelligence sources who spoke with Zagazola Makama on Wednesday, the attack occurred around 9: 00 a. m. on Monday. A distress call was received by security forces, prompting the immediate deployment of troops to the affected area. The swift response played a vital role in disrupting what could have escalated into a more deadly assault on the community.
Upon arrival in Teegbe, the troops engaged the assailants in a firefight. The armed militia, who were reportedly well- armed and had launched a surprise attack on the community, began to retreat under the weight of the military' s superior firepower. In an attempt to escape, the attackers fled towards Baduru Sama, a village located in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Undeterred, the troops launched a pursuit operation that led to a second encounter with the fleeing militia. In the ensuing clash, one of the suspects was neutralised. Further search and mop- up operations in the vicinity resulted in the arrest of two individuals believed to be connected to the militia group. The arrested suspects were identified as 40- year- old Sani Adamu and 20- year- old Buhari Mohammed. Both men are believed to be affiliated with a notorious local bandit gang known to operate across Plateau and Kaduna states.
