A major initiative aimed at addressing youth unemployment in Ghana is set to launch on Monday, as President John Dramani Mahama prepares to unveil the Adwumawura Program. The initiative is being hailed as a strategic and impactful move to empower young Ghanaians by equipping them with the tools to create and sustain their own businesses.
According to Presidential spokesperson Hon. Felix Ofosu Kwakye, who shared the announcement on his X account, the program reflects another fulfilled promise by President Mahama to invest in Ghana’s youth and support their role in national development. The Adwumawura Program will be implemented by the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), an agency known for its work in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship across the country.
Targeting young Ghanaians between the ages of 18 and 35, the program aims to train and support 10,000 individuals. Beyond traditional skill-building, Adwumawura seeks to foster long-term business growth through financial support, mentorship, and access to networks that enhance entrepreneurial success. The program is designed not only to offer immediate job opportunities but also to build a foundation for sustainable self-employment and economic independence.
President Mahama’s approach signals a broader commitment to inclusive economic development, positioning youth as key drivers of the country’s future. As the launch date approaches, excitement is growing among young people and stakeholders alike, many of whom view the program as a much-needed solution to the persistent challenge of youth unemployment. The Adwumawura Program is expected to be a catalyst for real change, giving thousands of young Ghanaians the opportunity to build a brighter future for themselves and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s economy.
