Tragedy seems to follow Francis Ngannou wherever he goes. The former UFC heavyweight champion, of course, grew up in abject poverty, and had to cross half a continent and a sea to get to Europe, where he started his fighting career, quickly rising to the top.

Last year, however, he lost his fifteen-year-old son due to an undiagnosed medical condition. And just a couple of weeks ago, reports suggest that the PFL heavyweight champion was involved in another tragedy, albeit one he was part of himself.

According to reports, a local whistleblower group in Cameroon has claimed that Ngannou was riding his bike when he collided into a seventeen-year-old girl, Ntsamma Brigitte Manuella. Cameroonian news outlets Cameroon-Online was the first to report on it, and they claim that the girl was rushed immediately to the hospital. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, she passed away.

What the circumstances of the accident were—whether Ngannou lost control of the bike, whether or not he was speeding, whether he was at fault or if the now-deceased victim was careless—are all questions fans want answers to. But sadly they remain unanswered at the moment.

Francis Ngannou was reportedly riding his bike in the Cameroonian capital of Yaounde, in the neighbourhood of Omnisports on Easter weekend, which was on 19-20 April 2025. It is unclear at the moment how exactly the accident occurred, but from the reporting, it seems like the MMA superstar was riding his bike and struck the seventeen-year-old.
