Kenya Power Sparks Outrage with Planned Power Cuts in Three Counties on Tuesday
Apr 29, 2025
Kenya Power has announced another round of planned power outages on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, across parts of Machakos, Uasin Gishu, and Kiambu counties, igniting frustration among residents and businesses.
The power cuts, set to last from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., will disrupt daily activities for thousands, raising concerns about the reliability of power supply in these regions.
In Machakos County, areas including EPZ, Nordo, Hela, African Coffee Roasters, and Capital Industrial will be without power for the entire duration of the maintenance. Residents are urged to prepare for the inconvenience, but many are frustrated by the recurring interruptions that seem to stretch the limits of patience.
In Uasin Gishu County, power will be cut off in Lugari Station, where residents and local businesses are bracing for another day of uncertainty.
The timing of these cuts, coinciding with peak work hours, has raised alarms about the impact on productivity, especially in industrial zones.
Kiambu County is also set to face disruptions, with several areas affected as Kenya Power undertakes its maintenance activities, leaving customers questioning the company's ability to provide consistent service.
While Kenya Power maintains that these outages are necessary for infrastructure improvement, the repeated disruptions have caused mounting frustration among residents who feel the timing and frequency of these cuts are more than they can tolerate.
