Manchester United are reportedly increasing their contact with Atalanta over a deal for Ederson. The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move away from the Serie A outfit at the end of the season, and the Red Devils are said to be pushing to strike a deal sooner rather than later.
Ruben Amorim has made it no secret that he is keen to bolster his ranks in every department this summer, with Wolves’ Matheus Cunha and Ipswich star Liam Delap among the attacking signings being eyed.
Several defenders and goalkeepers have also been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, with reinforcements centrally not being ruled out either – despite the acquisition of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
According to Italian news outlet Tuttosport, United have increased their contact for Brazilian midfielder Ederson ‘in the past hours’ as they are hopeful of winning the race to secure his signature.
Juventus have also shortlisted the 25-year-old as a target and feel he is the ideal replacement for Douglas Luiz, who could be set to return to the Premier League. However, United hope that their willingness to pay between £46million and £51m could prove decisive in talks with Atalanta.
Acquiring Ederson would be a major sign of intent from the Red Devils, though it could spell bad news for several stars, with sales expected to be required in order to fund such a major overhaul at the Theatre of Dreams.
