Interior CS Kipchumba Confirm Transfer of Angata Barikoi Officers After Civilian-Police Clash
May 1, 2025
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has confirmed the immediate transfer of several police officers stationed at Angata Barikoi, Kajiado County, following a recent confrontation between law enforcement and local civilians.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, CS Murkomen stated that the move was necessary to restore public trust and facilitate an impartial investigation into the incident, which sparked public outrage and raised concerns over police conduct.
"We have taken the decision to transfer officers from the Angata Barikoi post to allow for a thorough, transparent inquiry into the unfortunate altercation involving members of the public and the police," said Murkomen.
While details surrounding the incident remain under investigation, preliminary reports suggest that a disagreement between residents and officers escalated into a confrontation that left several people injured.
Human rights groups and community leaders have since demanded accountability and urgent government intervention.
CS Murkomen assured the public that the Ministry of Interior is committed to ensuring justice and upholding the rule of law.
He further emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism within the police service, particularly in areas where officers are expected to build strong relationships with the community.
