Wrexham has made history with a third consecutive promotion, securing their place in the Championship for the first time in 43 years after a decisive 3-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.
The Red Dragons' swift climb up the ranks has been propelled by the financial support of Hollywood bigwigs Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who remain steadfast in their goal to elevate the club to the Premier League. Promotion has seen the pair left with a $3 million bill to pay, although they have also netted a significant cash windfall, as well as receiving an immediate warning from a $400 million superstar.
Last year, the pair welcomed additional minority investors to help them reach their lofty objectives. The involvement of the Allyn family, former owners of the global medical device company Welch Allyn before its $2 billion sale in 2015, has allowed them to expedite their growth strategies both on and off the pitch.
In January, manager Phil Parkinson made significant investments in new talent, recruiting forwards Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez from Reading and Burnley respectively, while wing-back Ryan Longman was signed from Hull City. Construction is also due to commence soon on a new 5,500-seat Kop stand following the end of the League One season.
