Pete Edochie Receives Another Honour
May 3, 2025
Celestine Ukwu Memorial Awards for excellence will be presented to veteran actor Chief Pete Edochie, Justice Chris Onyia (rtd), and Ichaka master, Anyidons at a memorial event to honour the late music sage who died on May 7, 1977.
Douglas Ozougwu, an ace trumpet instructor from Galaxy International Band, will also receive the award.
For Edochie and Anyidons, honour comes from using the proceeds from their artistic talents for charitable purposes.
The Celestine Ukwu Memorial Foundation board praised Pete Edochie for using his artistic business to support colleagues, including providing medical support for an ailing artist.
Anyidons, on the other hand, used his wealth to revive the music of many forgotten artists, including Queen Theresa Onuora, who he assisted in creating social media publicity for.
Justice Chris Onyia (rtd)’s judicial exploits were noted for their fairness and integrity.
Douglas Ozougwu, a talented trumpeter and member of the Galaxy band, is recognised as a special highlight of the Celestine Ukwu Memorial Symposium.
The Celestine Ukwu Memorial Foundation aims to promote the musical and philosophical legacy of the late highlife musician, but also recognises individuals who contribute to humanity in various ways.
The Celestine Ukwu Memorial Award is part of the annual Celestine Ukwu Memorial Symposium, where all music meets Philosophy, which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the Amedeo Events Centre in Enugu.
