"Were's Assassination Might Have Been Caused by the Broad- Based Government, " Former NIS Officer Alleges Why

Just after his assassination along Ngong Road by a hitman riding a motorcycle— who quickly sped off into the busy traffic, leaving the MP writhing in pain and agony— former National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer James Khatwenge has come out to share his insights on the shocking incident. Khatwenge, a seasoned spy who served in government during a time when political assassinations were not uncommon, believes that the killing might be linked to broader political dynamics, beyond just local politics in Kasipul.
According to Khatwenge, while local rivalries certainly played a role, the emergence of the broad- based government may have had an even more significant hand in the assassination. He claims that the formation of this political coalition led to a serious split within ODM, with one side supporting the broad- based government and another vehemently opposing it.
" Those who opposed the broad- based government initiative, like Were, became isolated and exposed, " Khatwenge said. " They were no longer under the protection they once enjoyed. The people who used to silence critics with force are now unable to do so, and without the president' s full backing, their past wrongdoings are catching up with them. "
He adds that Were, being a vocal critic of the broad- based setup, may have unknowingly triggered old enemies who saw an opportunity to settle scores under the cover of new political realignments. Khatwenge suggests that the man who once protected these controversial figures no longer agrees with them in totality, giving more power and space to those they previously wronged.
