Mark Williams is just one more win away from a fourth World Snooker Championship title, but has battled against worsening health to make it through to the final

Mark Williams has battled his way to his fifth World Snooker Championship final where he stands on the cusp of securing a fourth world crown, a significant cash prize and an indelible place in the snooker history books.
The Welsh wizard has showcased stellar form throughout the tournament, overcoming Wu Yize, Hossein Vafaei, and John Higgins. His path to the final was secured on Saturday evening following a victory over world number one Judd Trump.
Williams is now set to face off against Zhao Xintong for the world title, with the finale commencing on Sunday afternoon.
With his triumph over Trump, at 50 years of age, Williams etches his name in the record books as the oldest ever finalist at the World Championship. Beyond this, he's on the verge of breaking another record; should he vanquish Zhao, he will take over from Ray Reardon as the oldest winner—a feat Reardon couldn't achieve when he lost to Alex Higgins in the 1982 final at the age of 49.
Talking to BBC post-victory, Williams expressed astonishment at his success: "I shouldn't really be competing with the number one player in the world over three days in a first-to-17, but somehow I'm plodding along for us oldies," he said. "I can't believe I'm in another final. I don't know how I'm doing to be honest."
