Pinging The Portal: Cincinnati Bearcats Basketball Interested in Pair of Forwards
May 5, 2025
CINCINNATI — Things have largely slowed down in the college basketball transfer portal, but Cincinnati is still showing interest in some new names.
We start with reported interest by CBS Sports's Jon Rothstein in UMass forward Daniel Rivera.
The 6-6, 215-pound forward has two years of eligibility left after notching 11.9 points, and 7.4 rebounds on 44% shooting (22.7% from deep).
He transferred to UMass last year after one season at Bryant.
Cincinnati is also reportedly interested in Sacred Heart forward Tanner Thomas. Sam Kayser noted the connection.
Thomas is also 6-6 and 215 pounds with one season of eligibility remaining. He averaged 14.5 points and 6.5 rebounds this past season on 45.4% shooting (career 36.7% three-point shooter on 2.3 attempts per game).
UC looks like it's targeting one final wing or forward piece to round out the latest rotation for Wes Miller. The roster has three to arguably four wing options in the rotation right now if you count Tyler McKinley in the mix with Sencire Harris, Jalen Celestine, and Shon Abaev.
