Prince Al- Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal, a distinguished member of the Saudi royal family, has become internationally recognized not for his political involvement or public service, but due to a tragic and deeply emotional story that has captured the attention of many around the globe. Popularly referred to as " the Sleeping Prince, " Al- Waleed has been in a coma for nearly two decades following a devastating car accident that forever altered the course of his life. On April 18, 2025, the prince quietly marked his 36th birthday, yet remains unconscious and unaware of the world' s progression during his prolonged slumber.
The life of Prince Al- Waleed took a dramatic turn in 2005 while he was pursuing his education at a military college. During his time abroad in London, the young royal was involved in a catastrophic automobile accident. According to various reports, while the other passengers in the vehicle escaped without serious injury, Al- Waleed sustained severe trauma, resulting in a critical brain hemorrhage. The severity of the injury plunged him into a deep coma from which he has yet to awaken.
Since the incident, Prince Al- Waleed has been under continuous medical supervision. He has remained in a comatose state for nearly 20 years, dependent on life- support systems to sustain his bodily functions. Medical sources report that he has been receiving care at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, where he is connected to a ventilator and nourished via a feeding tube. The prince' s father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, has shown extraordinary devotion and steadfast hope in the face of overwhelming medical odds.
