Miss South Africa withdraws from Miss Supranational 2025
May 7, 2025
Reigning Miss South Africa Mia Le Roux will miss out on another international pageant.
Miss South Africa officials have announced they will not send a contestant to Miss Supranational 2025.
They shared the shocking news on the pageant's official Instagram page.
"With heartfelt gratitude to our incredible fans, we share that Miss South Africa will not participate in the Miss Supranational 2025 competition, set for June in Poland," the statement read.
"We wish the Miss Supranational Organisation a spectacular event."
Le Roux, who is deaf, became the first differently abled person to win the beauty pageant.
The latest announcement means Miss SA will not bring any international crowns home during Le Roux's reign.
Contestants were not able to compete in the Miss World pageant.
Businesswoman Carol Bouwer bought the Miss World South Africa licence a few years ago, meaning someone from her pageant is sent to the competition.
Miss South Africa officials did not share further details about why they withdrew from Miss Supranational.
However, Miss South Africa 2010 Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala announced a few hours before that she was the new director of Miss Supranational South Africa.
Like Miss World South Africa, Miss Supranational South Africa will be selected at a different pageant.
"We are proud to announce an incredible journey to unfold, and a platform for change, impact, inspiration and women empowerment," a statement on her Instagram page read.
