The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, episode 1 confirmed that Ginny can talk again, a big step for her character after everything she's been through. Ginny was first introduced in season 1 of the series as a young girl Negan is taking care of. While she doesn't have any connection to other characters in Dead City at first, Maggie soon agrees to give her a home at the Bricks in exchange for Negan's help finding Hershel in Manhattan. However, because of how strong her connection is to the former antagonist, she secretly leaves to pursue him in New York.

Throughout season 1, Ginny never speaks, something that changed during Dead City season 2. In the season premiere, she ended up speaking twice to Hershel and Maggie, those brief moments indicating that she can, in fact, talk again. However, she's still not as talkative as other characters, what she says being quick and to-the-point in contrast to other characters. Even so, Dead City season 2, episode 1 established this as an important change to her character, especially given the connection it has to her wider storyline in the show.
