Casemiro Man United transfer latest as 'contract renewal' update emerges
May 9, 2025
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro was key on Thursday night as his side advanced to the final of the Europa League
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro's future at the club remains in doubt despite playing another starring role in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Brazilian scored United's second on the night as Ruben Amorim's men cruised to the final of the Europa League with a 4-1 victory, 7-1 on aggregate, success over Athletic Bilbao. Casemiro has undergone a redemption arc this season and while struggles in the Premier League are still prevalent, but admittedly less frequent than last season, it is European football where the midfielder has truly shined.
Casemiro bagged two important goals in both legs of the semi-final and has looked more comfortable under Amorim's coaching. This has led to questions as to whether or not he is playing his way into a contract extension.
His current deal at Old Trafford is due to expire in 2026 and he is believed to be the highest earner at the club on £350,000 per week, according to Capology. There have also been reports that the midfielder's wage could rise to a whopping £500,000 per week next season if United are in the Champions League.
However the Manchester Evening News understands the return of Champions League football would increase Casemiro's salary back up to £300,000-a-week.
