For a franchise that largely revolves around getting wasted, bowling with your cousin and curb-stomping random pedestrians, Grand Theft Auto has an unusual number of notable menswear moments. There’s the good: Tommy Vercetti’s Scarface-indebted pink suit in Vice City. The anti-fashion: Niko Bellic’s JD Sports winter vintage casual look in GTA IV. And the downright filthy: whatever soiled garm GTA V’s Trevor deigns to drape across himself.
Despite its recent delay to 26 May 2026, Grand Theft Auto VI’s louche, vibrant style moves are bang on the zeitgeist. As you’ll already know from Rockstar’s game trailer (with 475 million viewers, it's the biggest video launch of all time according to protagonist Jason Duval is a man of few words but many loud shirts. Most summers you’d expect these searing prints to be confined to the populace of Miami Beach. Come 2025, you can expect to see them all over your timeline… and not just via folks complaining they’ve got to wait another year for the follow-up to Red Dead Redemption 2.
From what we’ve seen of GTA 6 so far, Duval’s own lairy wardrobe strikes a vibe that’s somewhere between Adam Sandler’s heavily-memed basketball uniform, Bad Bunny’s undone everyday look, and Walton Goggins’ whiskey-addled Rick from The White Lotus S3. Given GTA 5’s successor has already been 12 years in the making, I doubt its developers were taking cues from the vintage Guess and Eleventy pickups that dominated Goggins’ depression-core rotation this February. Still, there’s no denying the serendipity.
