The long-running film franchise first started with 1993's Sniper starring Tom Berenger as expert American gunner Thomas Beckett. In the movie, Becket embarks on an assassination mission in Panama, and is assigned to partner with sharpshooter Richard Miller (Billy Zane).
Nearly 10 years later, in 2002, a sequel was released, Sniper 2, and since then. there have been nine more follow-up films. Multiple installments, including the latest, Sniper: The Last Stand, are now streaming on Netflix.
Berenger returned to star in Sniper 2 and Sniper 3. Following the fourth movie, Sniper: Reloaded, his character's son, Brandon Beckett (Chad Michael Collins), took over, proving that master gunmanship runs in the family.
Berenger eventually reprised his role as Thomas in three later sequels: Sniper: Legacy, Sniper: Ultimate Kill and Sniper: Assassin's End. There are a total of 11 films in the Sniperverse, with a 12th one "locked and loaded," as Collins revealed on X in March 2025.
