Joe Sugg and Dianne Buswell met on the BBC dance competition

The 2025 Bafta TV Awards delivered an emotional evening for viewers, with one particularly touching moment leaving many in tears.
Among the night’s highlights was Strictly Come Dancing’s win for Most Memorable Moment, awarded to Dianne Buswell and Chris McCausland’s powerful ‘blackout dance’ from the 2024 series.
The moving routine, which featured a moment of complete darkness to reflect Chris’ experience as a blind person, deeply resonated with the public and secured the award through a viewer vote.
Meanwhile, Strictly Come Dancing was noticeably absent from the Best Entertainment Programme category this year, marking the first time in the show's history it has been snubbed.
Buswell was present to accept the award and spoke on stage about the performance’s significance. “In one minute and 30 seconds of a dance, I feel like this told such a story. A story of hope, determination, resilience, and vulnerability,” she shared.
Visibly emotional, she added: “This moment meant so much to the both of us, so I'm just so thrilled that we have this.”
Though McCausland couldn’t attend the ceremony, Buswell delivered a message on his behalf.
She said: “Chris did have something he wanted me to say, and that is ‘after 22 years in comedy, he wins a Bafta for dancing’.”
