Doctor Odyssey Gets Disappointing Season 2 Update
May 14, 2025
Fans of Ryan Murphy's medical drama Doctor Odyssey just received a disappointing update about a potential Season 2. The show will not appear on ABC's 2025 Fall lineup.
Per Deadline, the ABC 2025 Fall schedule sees one of Murphy's other series, 9-1-1: Nashville, replacing Doctor Odyssey's 9 PM Thursday time slot. While a second season of Doctor Odyssey doesn't appear to be on the horizon for now, the network has not canceled the series yet. The show premiered in September 2024, telling the story of a new doctor aboard a luxury cruise ship as he handles unique medical cases far at sea.
"Doctor Odyssey isn’t currently on our schedule," Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group, said in a statement. While the news confirms Doctor Odyssey won't be back just yet, it also proves its far from dead. Ryan’s really busy. He's doing a lot with us. 9-1-1, 9-1-1 Nashville, All’s Fair [for Hulu]. So we;re just continuing that creative conversations with him."
The decision of whether Doctor Odyssey ultimately gets another season will likely fall to Murphy. "I really love Doctor Odyssey, I think it's a wildly inventive show, and we're doing everything we can to support it," Eric Schrier, the President of Disney TV Studios said. "That decision ultimately lies with Ryan Murphy, whether Ryan wants to continue to do it, and he feels like there's stories to tell that he feels confident in."
