According to Channels TV, Ajudua was taken into custody on Tuesday in Abuja and is currently being held by the anti-graft agency.
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Lagos-based socialite and businessman, Fred Ajudua, ahead of his re-arraignment over an alleged $1.43 million fraud.
According to Channels TV, Ajudua was taken into custody on Tuesday in Abuja and is currently being held by the anti-graft agency.
SaharaReporters exclusively reported on Monday that Ajudua, who is on trial for allegedly defrauding a German company of $1.43 million over 30 years ago, had reportedly gone into hiding following a Supreme Court order mandating his return to prison.
His arrest follows a ruling by the Supreme Court on Friday, May 9, 2025, which revoked the bail earlier granted to him by the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal.
In a unanimous decision, the apex court ruled that the Appeal Court erred in granting Ajudua bail and ordered his return to correctional custody.
However, Ajudua was not taken to prison as ordered by the apex court, SaharaReporters exclusively reported on Monday.
“Ajudua escaped after the Supreme Court ordered that he should be returned to prison,” one of the sources who disclosed this to SaharaReporters said.
However, efforts to reach the EFCC spokesman for confirmation failed as he did not answer calls to his mobile phone.
