Can you smell what the Swedish chef is cooking? Heat’s Larsson has big offseason plans

MIAMI – Can you smell what the Swedish chef is cooking?
Putting aside the mixed metaphor, the intrigue for the Miami Heat remains quite real when it comes to 2024 second-round pick Pelle Larsson, the Swedish guard out of Arizona who provided an unexpected boost in his rookie season.
Now the question is whether there can be more.
Considering the Heat’s lack of upcoming second-round capital, including no second-round pick in this year’s draft and without true control of any second-round pick through 2031, Larsson could stand for a while as the best second-round thing to come along for the Heat since Josh Richardson was selected out of Tennessee at No. 40 in 2015.
From his championship-winning basket at summer league last July in Las Vegas to the energy provided during a Heat season with ample lulls, the 6-foot-5 guard taken at No. 44 last June stood as an unexpected bright spot to what largely stood as a dark Heat season.
Now all the Heat are seeking is more.
With Larsson hopeful of providing just that.
“I think going through the season I had really like no expectation, kind of just went in with an open mindset and got into some good rhythm, had some injuries that kind of set me back a few times,” Larsson said during his exit interview. “But I think just doing that, having a year under my belt just kind of helps me calm down a little bit and realize what’s more important than other things, and that’s what I can focus my work on.”
