Cornwall's Miss England pulls out of Miss World pageant for 'personal reasons'
May 19, 2025
Milla Magee from Newquay was named Miss England last summer
Miss England Milla Magee has unexpectedly pulled out of the Miss World pageant, citing "personal health reasons" for her sudden departure from the competition, which is set to conclude next weekend. The 24-year-old lifeguard from Newquay withdrew halfway through the event being held in Hyderabad, India.
Miss England director Angie Beasley stated: "We regret to announce that Milla Magee has returned home to the UK due to personal reasons. We stand fully by her decision – health must always come first."
Milla had already participated in several rounds against contestants from 112 countries before her withdrawal. She has now flown home. The Miss World final is scheduled to take place next Saturday (May 31).
Beasley added: "Milla has shown tremendous dedication over the past year to her role as Miss England particularly through her Miss World Beauty with a Purpose project, 'Go Far with CPR' which she had hoped to showcase next week.
"We, alongside the Miss World Organisation, are incredibly proud of what she has accomplished and we will continue to highlight her project throughout her reign as Miss England. To wear the sash of England is more than a title - it's a symbol of the people, the stories, and the spirit I carry with me.
