Man Claims to Be Mwai Kibaki’s Son, Challenges Late President’s Will in Court
May 19, 2025
A man identified as Jacob Ocholla has stepped into the spotlight, claiming to be the biological son of Kenya’s third president, the late Mwai Kibaki. Kibaki passed away in April 2022, leaving behind a will that has now become the center of legal controversy.
Ocholla alleges that the will, dated 2016, is not authentic. He claims that the signatures on the document do not match those known to be Kibaki’s, suggesting possible forgery. His primary contention is that he was unfairly excluded from the inheritance process, despite his alleged blood relation.
The former president’s children, however, have strongly dismissed the claims. They were named as the sole executors of the will and have maintained that the document is genuine and legally binding. In court, they challenged Ocholla’s assertions and questioned both the timing and validity of his claims.
This case has drawn public interest, not just because of the stature of the late Kibaki, but also due to the sensitive nature of posthumous family disputes involving high-profile figures.
As the legal battle unfolds, it raises questions about identity, inheritance, and the complexities of family legacies. The courts are expected to determine whether Ocholla’s claims hold merit or if the will stands as Kibaki’s final word.
