In a major political development, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has issued a decisive directive to members of his Executive Council and other political appointees under his administration. During a recent State Executive Council meeting held on Thursday, the Governor declared his intention to officially leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a move that has put to rest the months- long speculations surrounding his political allegiance. In light of this decision, he instructed his appointees to either follow his lead by defecting alongside him or tender their resignation from their positions.

According to Vanguard, which reported the incident, Governor Eno made it unequivocally clear that he had resolved to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing ideological alignment with the leadership approach of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as one of his principal motivations. He openly expressed admiration for President Tinubu' s governance style and emphasized that his decision to join the APC stemmed from a desire to associate himself with the President' s political philosophy and leadership direction.

" It is no longer a secret that I have decided to join the All Progressives Congress, " Governor Eno announced during the meeting. " I am inspired by the leadership qualities of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and I believe in aligning myself with that kind of leadership. "
