PlayStation gamers warned they've last chance for free store credit
May 22, 2025

Sony will soon close its PlayStation Stars service

After three years, PlayStation Stars will soon draw to a close, ending opportunities for users to earn and redeem free store credit.
PlayStation Stars, as I’m sure you’re aware, allows users to partake in simple campaigns, rewarding them with both points and digital collectibles for doing so.
The service also provided the chance for users to earn additional points when making purchases via the PlayStation Store.
Gather enough points and you could redeem those for free store credit vouchers, DLC, in-game currencies, or even full-length games.
For example, you’d need to save up 1,250 points in order to get £5 worth of free store credit.
Admittedly, most of us weren’t all that interested in the digital collectibles but fair to say, the free store credit was most definitely welcomed.
Well, it’ll soon become a thing of the past as after “evaluating the types of activities our players respond best to”, Sony has strangely come to the conclusion that PlayStation Stars is no longer something it should keep in service.
Sony revealed via the PlayStation Blog that it will be refocusing its efforts, although on what we do not know.
From yesterday, 21 May, no new members are being accepted via PlayStation Stars so it’s too late to get involved.
