Warning: No water for over four days – Full list of affected suburbs
May 23, 2025
Pretoria residents are urged to prepare for a water outage lasting over four days due to planned maintenance on the city’s water infrastructure.
Thousands of Pretoria residents are set to face dry taps for more than four days as Rand Water begins critical maintenance on key pumping stations—leaving large parts of the city without water from 29 May to 2 June 2025.
The Tshwane Metro said Rand Water will embark on maintenance work at its Mapleton and Palmiet Systems, which supplies water to Tshwane.
The planned maintenance at its Mapleton and Palmiet Booster Pumping Stations is to improve their network’s reliability and efficiency.
It furthermore said the essential work will be carried out from May 29 to June 03 2025.
“This major work will take four and a half days to complete from Thursday, May 29, until June 02, 2025.”
According to the statement, the water utility has forewarned Tshwane that there will be no pumping from its system during the duration of the work.
“To mitigate the impact of a possible water supply interruption, the city is planning to fill the reservoirs, which will be affected, to over 80% a few days prior to the commencement of the maintenance work.”
However, the supply may be interrupted during the upkeep period, and residents are therefore urged to use water sparingly.
