The talented Cork hurler and football player has been involved in the GAA from a very young age, with his family holding ties to the organisation for generations
Brian Hayes is one of Cork’s biggest talents, with the hurler holding a long list of honours and achievements.
He is heavily involved in the GAA between playing hurling and Gaelic football and he’s not the only member of his family with ties to the organisation either.
When he’s not training or playing on the pitch, the athlete has a busy day job.
Family life
Brian is originally from Cork and was born in 2001, making him 24 years old this year.
He comes from a long legacy in the GAA, with several members of his also playing football.
His father, Paddy Hayes, was a member of the Cork senior football team that won the All-Ireland SFC title in 1990 while his uncle, Ger Cunningham, also won All-Ireland SHC titles with Cork in 1984, 1986 and 1990.
His cousin, Ben Cunningham, plays with the Cork senior team too.
Playing career
Brian played Gaelic football and hurling at underage and juvenile levels with St Finbarr's.
He went on to join their senior teams as a dual player in 2020 and won a Cork Premier Senior Football Championship title in 2021 and then a Munster Senior Club Football Championship that same year.
