Paul Muite, a veteran lawyer and political analyst, has raised concerns over the Kenya Kwanza administration’s approach to governance, questioning whether its priorities align with the needs of the Kenyan people.

His remarks follow the government’s intensified focus on large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly road expansions and urban development, while critical economic and social issues remain unresolved.

Muite’s critique comes at a time when the government, led by President William Ruto, has embarked on ambitious national programmes aimed at economic revitalisation. These initiatives include investment in roads, energy, and housing, alongside policies meant to stabilise Kenya’s economy.

However, the seasoned lawyer argues that while development is essential, pressing challenges such as unemployment, inflation, and public sector accountability should take precedence.

His concerns were echoed by various political commentators who noted that the government’s policies seem heavily skewed towards physical development, potentially at the expense of institutional reforms and economic stability.

Citizens have also expressed mixed reactions, with some welcoming infrastructure projects while others fear they may divert attention from essential governance matters such as education and healthcare.
