Sticky Fingers closes downtown spot but says it's not done in Greenville despite bankruptcy
Jun 3, 2025
GREENVILLE — Sticky Fingers Rib House has closed its downtown location after 20 years, but the restaurant insists that it’s just relocating its Greenville presence.
The closure comes three months after the restaurant’s parent company, Sticky Fingers Restaurants LLC, filed for bankruptcy protection in federal court.
“We are immensely grateful for the support, memories, and moments we’ve shared with you—our loyal guests, friends, and neighbors,” a sign read at the restaurant’s front door June 2. “Your patronage has meant the world to us, and we cherish the time we’ve spent together.”
Bankruptcy filings tie into the Greenville location at the prominent corner of Main and East Washington streets. The company also owns a location in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
The Memphis-style ribs and barbecue chain got its start in the Lowcountry, with its first location in Mount Pleasant in 1992. Although it was started by a group of childhood friends, ownership has changed hands throughout the years.
Shortly after the initial bankruptcy filings, Robert Cooper, an attorney for the company, said the restaurant would remain open during the restructuring process.
Cooper told The Post and Courier on June 2 that the company hopes to find another location in Greenville within 30 days and is considering buying instead of renting the next spot it inhabits.
