Jun 3, 2025
The best film in a Denzel Washington-led trilogy is riding a new wave of popularity online two years after its release. The hit action thriller The Equalizer 3 has shot its way up Prime Video's charts while fans wait for the fourth and fifth installments in Washington's only franchise.
Via Flix Patrol, The Equalizer 3 ranks third on the Prime Video movies chart in the United States, taking the podium on a list topped by the Jason Statham film A Working Man. Additionally, The Equalizer threequel has been Prime Video's top film across Central and South America for three consecutive days, underscoring its staying power worldwide.
The Equalizer 3 -- which reunited Washington with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua -- remains popular among critics and audiences. The follow-up has a 76% critical rating and 94% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes, both of which franchise highs. A box-office hit, grossing $191.1 million against its $70 million budget, The Equalizer 3 also found success on the Netflix charts in 2024.
The film sees Washington's character Robert McCall trying to settle into a new life in southern Italy. However, he springs back into action when he realizes some friends he's met are oppressed by the criminal society known as the Camorra. As the Camorra harass and kill innocent people, McCall works to free everyone from their control. The Equalizer 3 brings Washington back together with his Man on Fire co-star Dakota Fanning, who portrays Emma Collins, a CIA agent leading her own investigation into the Camorra and their drug trafficking operation.
